A Day In The Life
The beauty of working in the hotel industry is that no two days are ever the same and you get real pleasure from seeing our guests enjoying their stay with us. With over 200 team members spread over 12 different departments, there really is something for everyone.
Below is a snapshot of a typical working day in the Riverside Park Hotel.
The hours are lovely in the accommodation department, usually, 8 am till 4 pm daily. You are responsible for the cleaning of the bedrooms & common areas of the hotel. There is a real sense of guest satisfaction in this role.
If numbers are your thing, accounts are the department for you. They also have the most important job in the hotel……. They pay us!!!
The backbone of our weddings and functions, the banqueting team offer exceptional service and take great pleasure of sharing people’s most memorable days. From setting up the tables to serving the guests, it really is a hands-on role.
The bar team are responsible for the running of the Prom Bar, Edward Hilton Function Bar & the Seamus Rafter Function bar, there is a never a shortage of something to do. From shaking cocktails to serving food, the days are never boring and the teamwork between the bar team is second to none.
The only department in the hotel where the sole purpose of the department is to look after the team, leaving them able to look after our guests. From recruitment to training there is a real sense of job satisfaction in this department.
From the head chef to kitchen wash up, there is a variety of roles in our two kitchens, from 6 am when the breakfast chefs start till 12 midnight when the last of washing up is finished, the kitchen is a hive of activity. As is the theme of hotel work no two days are ever the same and team work is key.
The hidden gems of our team. The laundry team work tirelessly to ensure all our linen is fresh & crisp and our guests can enjoy the best night’s sleep thanks to their hard work.
The leisure club team are always on hand to help their members gain the most from their training with us, from designing personal programmes to testing the pool water, the days are interesting and the satisfaction of seeing someone improve their health makes their day worthwhile.
With 100 bedrooms, 2 restaurants, the Prom Bar, 2 restaurants & meetings rooms there is plenty of upkeep and ensuring our maintenance team is busy all year round. From fixing sinks to ensuring all the gym equipment is in working order, the days fly by.
24/7 there is always a friendly porter to assist with all our guests’ needs, from setting up our meeting rooms to ensuring all our concerts and conferences run smoothly. The helping hand of the hotel.
The face of the hotel, always the first people to welcome our guests and offer any assistance they can. From checking our guests in, to suggesting places of interest for them visit, they really go out of their way to ensure our guests have a fantastic stay with us.
The list is endless and there really is no typical day in the sales & marketing department, from looking after our social media to organising wedding showcases, designing our promotional material and representing the hotel at trade shows, the day flies by in a hive of activity.
Another one of our back of house departments, the unsung hero’s working away to ensure there is plenty of food and drink for our lovely guests to enjoy. They are the go-to people for our team when they need anything.
From breakfast, through to dinner you can always rely on the waiting team to offer true customer care. Always ready to greet our guest and help them enjoy their stay with us.
