If you are staying with us here an the 4 Star Riverside Park Hotel, you don’t need to go far to find some fun activities to do with the family, especially if you are on a budget! Enniscorthy is the perfect destination for an enjoyable and memorable family break.

Playground and River Walk

We are so lucky to be situated on the banks of the River Slaney and there is an incredible 5 kilometre walk right on our door step. Families can enjoy a walk down the promenade and the kids will love to watch out for the wildlife that have made the banks of the river their home. There is also a well-equipped playground right beside the hotel that the little ones will love with lots of fun things to play on that are specially designed for children under 5 years old as well as older children. The playground also features specialist sensory and special needs equipment including eco-tube chimes, an inclusive and fully accessible multi-user wheelchair roundabout and a wheelchair accessible swing.

Riverside Leisure Club

For those rainy days in Wexford, you can relax in the hotel and enjoy our leisure club. As a resident of the Riverside Park Hotel, you will receive complimentary access to our leisure club which features a 20m indoor heated pool, kids pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi (children must be over 16 to use sauna, steam room & jacuzzi). The leisure club opens 7 days a week, Monday-Friday 6:30am-9:45pm (kids welcome in pool until 8pm), Saturday 7:30am-6:45pm & Sunday 8:30am-6:45pm.

Vinegar Hill

For when you want to burn off some energy with the kids, why not climb to the top of the historic Vinegar Hill and take in the panoramic views of Enniscorthy, you can even see the Riverside Park Hotel from there! With information boards located in the carpark explaining the significance of the hill, you then walk to the top of the hill which has a marked pathway and is super family friendly. Located a 5 minute drive from the hotel, it is a great activity to get out and about without venturing too far from the hotel.

Min Ryan Park & Playground

If you’re heading to Wexford town, The Min Ryan Park & Playground is a fantastic open public space which is accessible to all and free of charge. It has many features such as a playground, picnic area, memorial garden, walking track, play spaces, wildflower meadows and art/sculpture displays. The playground incorporates equipment for all children’s ages. The park also includes a series of rich, biodiverse eco-systems such as wetlands, wild flower meadows and native woodland habitats, great for the kids to learn and explore.

Courtown Woods

If you are looking for a breath of fresh air, Courtown Woods is a fantastic place to visit with all the family. With 25 hectares of mature woodlands, there are 4 marked paths which are great for kids to go off and explore! The trails are part of the Wexford Walking Trails and date back to 1870. The beach is metres away from the woodland walk which you can join onto for a change of scenery.

Curracloe Beach & The Raven Nature Reserve

A trip to Wexford isn’t complete without visiting the famous Curracloe Beach which has been awarded Blue Flag Beach status on numerous occasions and should always be on your list when visiting Wexford. The 11km long beach is renowned for it’s soft fine sand and has a 5km nature trail which runs to Raven Point. The beach and woodland walk are both family friendly with free car parking and free to visit. If you’re brave enough for a dip in the sea, make sure to bring your swimming togs!
